THE FEMALE WORLD

THE FEMALE WORLD

Stele n. 12 and the funeral altar no. 13, both erected on female tombs, they preserve the representation in relief of a series of objects from the mundus (ornament and cosmetics) for women: a pair of sandals, a circular mirror in an open case with lid sliding, a comb, a cyst or ‘beauty-case’, gods perfume jars and even a closed parasol, which it is almost a unicum.

The representation of these objects wants to reaffirm the role assigned to women in society, from a perspective certainly very far from ours.
